Bigger Than Hip Hop
The Bigger Than Hip Hop program is a 8-week series of workshops and mentorships, culminating in a multi-disciplinary show celebrating student creativity in the realm of Hip-Hop (music, dance, fashion, art). Six artists from our local POC community will host workshops in a variety of art disciplines, including street fashion, lyric development and live rapping, beat production, DJing, murals / street-art, and hip-hop dance ensemble. Two students for each discipline showing particular interest will be invited into the mentorship program, where the artist provides a 30-minute-per-week direction, support, feedback, and connections. At the end of the session, students highlight their work in a show bringing together workshop participants, apprentices, their mentors, and the general public.
