Roots Futsal
Despite our community’s best intentions, if you build it - they will come, didn’t quite work the way we wanted. Futsal has been growing tremendously in and around Portland, but it has fallen into the same problem as soccer: a boutique sport that requires committed parents willing to pay and drive. It’s not the same game that children across the world play until they either run out of light or are told to come in for dinner. But the courts are there. We just need to show the kids how to use them. Roots Futsal is an offshoot of Cada Casa and has its own website. Since its inception we have hosted pickup games, community tournaments, and summer camps as part of the SUN Program.
Pavo Real FC
Pavo Real FC was developed as a cross-generational soccer and futsal program committed to elevated design and a love for the beautiful game. The senior team competed in the Toffee League and included jerseys developed by Tymon Emch. The junior team was a youth futsal team, with similar design elements.
Beaverton Snowboard Alliance
In an effort to share resources and facilitate the love and development of snowboarding, the Beaverton Snowboard Alliance was created. High schools throughout the Beaverton School District (Southridge, Aloha, Beaverton, Mountainside) came together twice a week to practice at Mt Hood Meadows and compete on the weekends. This project culminated in 2018 when Beaverton High School won the state championships.
Salem Summer Camp
In 2013, Cada Casa hosted its first full-day summer camp at Straub Middle School, in Salem, OR. Middle and high school students were able to build their own schedule consisting of street art, ornithology, stop motion video production, ultimate frisbee, Disney movie analysis, volleyball, and digital photography.
